The SAVE LIVES Act was signed into law March 24, 2021, expanding the VA’s legal authority to provide COVID-19 vaccines to all Veterans, regardless of their VA health care enrollment status, as well as Veteran’s spouses, caregivers and some beneficiaries.
To better assist Veterans and their families in Alabama, the Birmingham VA Health Care System, Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System and Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center are providing a centralized call center to schedule appointments for COVID-19 vaccines. Vaccinations are by appointment only and subject to supply availability. Veterans can call 1-844-435-0505, Monday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., to schedule an appointment at the location nearest to them.
